Agribusiness and climate change conference
An agribusiness and climate change conference will be held at the Erinvale Hotel, Somerset West from 17-18 June 2009. This conference is held with the Department of Agriculture: Western Cape, the SA Agri Academy, the British Consulate General in Cape Town and UK Trade and Invest as partners. Full particulars and registration details available
here. Well-known speakers from South Africa and the UK will feature on the programme.

High profile visit to CIAT
The Cape Institute for Agricultural Training (CIAT) was honored by a visit of the Mr Ulrich Adam (Member of the German Parliament), his wife, and Mr Marco Schmitt, representing the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Cape Town. Mr Adam showed great interest in agricultural training and was informed about CIAT's role in agricultural education and training. Extensive discussions on possible future co-operation between Germany and the Western Cape was held. Photographs

Climate Change
The Department of Agriculture Western Cape accepts that climate change is a reality and that urgent interventions and adaptations are required, especially with regards to water management strategies, biodiversity protection and resource management strategies.
